Birthday

Today is my 40th birthday. I have dreaded this day for a while. I find my life has chaged so much in the past 2 years. Professionally, I am about to finish my B.A, I am a board member for a regional anthropological society, I am about to be published for the first time, I am learning to write as an anthropologist and I am excited to move on to the next phase of my life--graduate school. Taking a graduate class now is preparation for bigger and better things. I have an amazing professor. She is harsh but gentle, firm but sensitive and is a straight shooter--sometimes to a fault but one will never question where they stand with her regarding their writing and/or methodology they choose to use. I have told her that she is an inspiration to me and I meant it.

Persuing (albeit quite late in the game) what has been in my heart since 2000 when I took my first cultural anthropology class, has kept me from regrets. I have lead a great life in many ways. I was able to see quite a bit of our diverse world, meet amazing people and now have mentors helping me over the moutains when the rocks get too jagged....how I hope to have this affect on a student someday.
